Ismailis and Twelvers are both branches of the Imami Shiites, who acknowledge the successors of Muhammad and Ali, his son-in-law, as leaders of the Muslims. Twelvers amd Ismailis differ as to the line of succession of the imams after the first six imams, whom they both recognise.
