ENTRY TERMS

  • Textes dramatiques

SCOPE NOTE

  • In classic dramaturgy, a dramatic text is the text that creates an imaginary story with fictional discourse. The theme is conveyed by its dominant feature, the dialogue (and monologue), which advances the action of the dramatis personae. It is usually introduced by stage directions with precise spatio-temporal indications. Inherently conditioned by its performability, i.e. stage contextualization, the dramatic text constitutes in current theatre practice one of the expressive means of theatre art.
