SCOPE NOTE

  • The authoritative texts of major religions, such as the Torah for Judaism, the Bible for Christianity, and the Quran for Islam. Holy writs, crystallized in a standard, canonized form defined and accepted by religious authorities, proclaim the fundamental beliefs of every religion and stipulate the systems of worship and commands that must be followed by the faithful. Holy writs are considered to have a divine origin or to be the outcome of divine inspiration.
