BROADER CONCEPT
SCOPE NOTE
- Dramatic device in which a character doesn’t address himself to another character on stage but to himself and consequently to the audience. Although in asides there is no interlocutor and, therefore, they possess strong monologic features, they are distinguished from monologues by their brevity, the absence of inner structure and their interdependence with the dramatic discourse.
