BROADER CONCEPT
SCOPE NOTE
- The science concerned with the physical properties and processes of the earth, atmosphere, and hydrosphere, as well as of planetary bodies. As a discipline it was formed around the late 19th and early 20th century, with its own societies and institutes. Some of the disciplines that are now included in geophysics are seismology, meteorology, geodesy, gravimetry and others.
