SCOPE NOTE
- A privilege granted to Athenian citizens and foreigners in ancient Athens. Prohedria was the right to watch the contests and plays from privileged seats, usually in the front row of the benches, along with the priests and city magistrates. It was commonly granted along with free meals in the prytaneion. The grant of this privilege was registered in the honorific decree which recorded the resolution of the Assembly.
