SCOPE NOTE
- A legend indicating the collective group of people (usually the citizens of a city, but sometimes the members of a wider federal association) acting as the authority for issuing a coinage. Most often the legend consists of the name of the people in the genitive plural, or sometimes the city's name in the genitive singular, at times abbreviated.
