SCOPE NOTE
- Armed conflicts between opposing forces that take place on the water, mostly on the sea, and in which mainly (but not exclusively) waterborne military means are employed. Naval battles are conducted in the framework of particular tactical planning that applies to the water environment (naval warfare).
