SCOPE NOTE
- Gold, concave Byzantine coins of 20.5 carats. They were first introduced in 1092 CE by Alexios I Komnenos and they were equal to 12 miliaresia or 6.000 nummi. They ceased to be minted during the 14th-15th c. CE and the name remained in use thereafter solely as a money of account.
