SCOPE NOTE
- The study of the structure and evolution of the universe. Until cosmology became a branch of modern astronomy, it had been part of ancient and medieval philosophy, and more specifically metaphysics. Geocentrism, heliocentrism, expanding universe, big-bang, cosmic strings etc. are some of the most eminent theories articulated in Western cosmology.
