SCOPE NOTE
- A term that appears in ancient Greece. The promanteia wasthe privilege granted by the Delphi sanctuary to someone to receive an oracle before others. This privilege was given by the priesthood of Delphi to cities or (from the beginning of the 4th century BC.) to persons who had benefited the sanctuary. Often, this privilege was combined with others such as the prothysis.
