SCOPE NOTE
- A type of irregular taxation that was imposed after 378 BC on the three wealthiest Athenians of each tax group (symmoria) who were invited to prepay the whole sum that corresponded to their symmoria as an advance payment (proeisphora), and were left to reimburse themselves from the other members.
