SCOPE NOTE
- A hoard of coins, and perhaps other precious objects, secreted together in antiquity at a time of emergency. Such deposits tend to consist of a cross-section of coins in circulation at the time of deposit. They may thus serve as evidence for the nature of the coin supply at a given time.
