BROADER CONCEPT
SCOPE NOTE
- The passage of one or more individuals, sometimes of entire social or etho-cultural groups, from one religion to another. Religious conversion is a multifaceted process that has to do with systems of belief and practice, institutions, cultural change and social identities. Conversion is not only connected to a quest for investing human life with a metaphysical meaning, but also to the sociopolitical role of religion, as well as to the relationship between religiosity and secularisation.
