ΔΙΕΥΚΡΙΝΙΣΤΙΚΗ ΣΗΜΕΙΩΣΗ
- The Greek term for the gold coins of the Persian Empire. They were introduced by Darius I towards the end of the 6th c. BCE and they continued to circulate until the conquest of the Persian Empire by Alexander the Great in 330 BCE. On the obverse they bore the image of the Persian king armed with a bow and arrow and they were devided into 20 sigloi.
