ΔΙΕΥΚΡΙΝΙΣΤΙΚΗ ΣΗΜΕΙΩΣΗ
- Athenian official who sat near the banking tables in the agora of Athens and had the task of examining and approving Attic silver coinage. Counterfeits were slashed by the dokimastes, removed from circulation, and dedicated to the Mother of the Gods. There is evidence for the office of dokimastes at Athens as early as 398/7 BCE.
