ΔΙΕΥΚΡΙΝΙΣΤΙΚΗ ΣΗΜΕΙΩΣΗ
- Epidemics of plague, an infectious disease caused by parasites of infected rodents. Plague can take the form of bubonic, septicemic and pneumonic plague. Plague epidemics refer mostly to bubonic plague and have sometimes developed into extremely destructive pandemics, such as the one of the 6th century CE ("plague of Justinian") and the one of the 14th century, known as "Black death", which may have been responsible for the extinction of 1/3 of the population of Europe.
